Toyota Motor Corp. says it will suspend operations at its U.K. assembly plant for one day when Britain exits the European Union on Oct. 31.
Toyota’s Burnaston facility will “pause” output of Corolla small sedans on Friday, Nov. 1. The company says it will use stockpiled inventory to cover normal output that day, then resume production on Monday, Nov. 4.
Like other carmakers in England, Toyota has been trying to prepare for possible supply chain disruptions when Brexit occurs, especially if Britain leaves the EU without a new trade deal. Producers went through similar production halts at the end of March, the U.K.’s original exit date.
