Ford Drops 2 SUVs, Cuts Staff in Canada

Ford Motor Co. will eliminate 450 workers at its Canadian assembly plant in Oakville, Ont., where the Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT models are going out of production, says the Unifor union.
Ford confirms to Reuters that MKT production stopped earlier this month. Output of the Flex (pictured) is scheduled to end at the end of November.
The Oakville plant normally employs about 4,100 hourly workers, who are represented by Unifor. The union says the facility shed 200 jobs in September and will drop another 450 employees in February unless Ford assigns one or more new vehicle programs to the factory.
